Show moreIn fully hydraulic systems driven by a support belt, the auxiliary pump always pumps oil which means that it operates continuously. An electric motor was later used to minimize power losses and precisely adjust the power of the steering pump. The fluid pressure and the pump output with which the control system is supplied can be precisely set depending on the current driving parameters. The pump motor runs at a maximum speed of approximately 10,000 rpm, for example for low speed driving, eg during parking maneuvers. The pump has an integrated controller in which the characteristics of its operation are recorded, adapted to the characteristics of the vehicle. The pump also has an integrated hydraulic fluid reservoir. Power control is based on information provided by the respective sensors, such as vehicle speed, steering speed, engine speed.
